The Light Fantastic

Kyra is a choreographer and video maker.  Her practice is informed by her background and training in contemporary dance, improvisation and visual art. She has worked in theatre, dance and film on a wide variety of projects since 1998

Kyra balances working nationally and internationally with time spent developing and supporting local arts initiatives.  Based in Bristol, UK since 2000, she has contributed to several grassroots artist-led projects, particularly the Cube Cinema and Albany Artists

Her current work with the international AHRC Network on Screendance furthers her commitment to creative collaboration and active engagement with the contexts in which work is made, presented and thought about.

Kyra is currently researching a practice-based PhD at the University of Bristol, and teaching and lecturing in dance and moving image in Further, and Higher Education.

Following the birth of her daughter in 2008, she set up Bristol Family Jam, putting in place training and skill-share opportunities that connect artistic practice and family life.
